About: Time-shift System in Nico Namahousou
Sep. 24th, 2010 08:33 pmI don't think this guide is very friendly for monitors with low resolution. If you have problems with images jutting out of the entry border, I can repost an alternative guide with the images resized.
What is time-shifting?
It's an option on Nico Namahousou that enables the user to watch lives after it's finished broadcasting.
Your timeshift timeline can be accessed directly from here.
Alternatively, you can get to it through your "My page" and clicking タイムシフト予約一覧( 生放送マイページへ )

How do I time-shift?
1) Via the Gate
The gate is the page right before entering the live, with the two doors. The link looks as follows: http://live.nicovideo.jp/gate/lv#######
The last part of the link is the same as the actual live: http://live.nicovideo.jp/watch/lv#######
At this page, click the yellow button (as seen below) to time-shift a live.
Further questions and comments are welcomed!

At this page, click the yellow button (as seen below) to time-shift a live.

You'll be greeted with a confirmation message with details of the selected live. Press the yellow button once more.

2) Via your Time-Shift Page
Found in the second section of your time-shift page, under 参加中のチャンネル/コミュニティで放送されている番組 will be a list of broadcasts.
The first row are on-going broadcasts, click the red button to proceed to it.
The second row is composed of scheduled broadcasts. Just as above, click the yellow button to time-shift it.
The blue button is to navigate to its gate.

Why can't I time-shift a live?
If you don't see a yellow button at the live's gate, then the broadcaster has chosen not to allow users to time-shift their live. Nothing you can do about it in that case.
How to read your time-line. (Statuses of time-shifts, e.g. expiry dates etc.)
While the live is still broadcasting, the below will appear next to its name in your time-line.
予約中
Time-shifts are available 30 minutes after the broadcast end. The following example says that the time-shifted live will be available for viewing from 11:43PM.

Click the
button to start watching the time-shift.
You will not be able to watch it once a full 7 days has passed since the live end.
Note that there may be special exceptions to this rule, such as ones that expire 24 hours after you have first started watching it.
You also won't be able to watch it any more after watching it once through to the very end. There have been cases where it still hasn't removed itself after that, though.
Limit of once-through only does not apply to premiums.
The red text that follows
informs you of when the live will expire. Take careful note of it so you don't miss your chance to watch it!
[2010/09/28(火)23:59まで] tells you that you can load the live until 11:59 on 28/09/2010 (Tuesday).
Note that if you've got the live loaded just before it turns the midnight right after the set expired date, you can still watch it, but without seeking to another position of the live or start/stopping it.
So you can watch it after 11:59 of whatever date so long as you don't touch it anymore.
Expired lives will have the following after the title: 視聴権使用期限が切れています
And finally, if you see this: 番組は中止されました it means that the broadcaster has removed the time-shift on a previously time-shift enabled live.
After you have successfully time-shifted it, the button will appear grey.

If you don't see a yellow button at the live's gate, then the broadcaster has chosen not to allow users to time-shift their live. Nothing you can do about it in that case.
Note that free users can only time-shift a live before it commences. Premiums can do so up to a week after it has ended.
Another reason that you may not be able to time-shift is because your time-line is full.
((As of recently, the limit of 1 time-shift for free members and 10 for premiums has been changed to 10 and 30 respectively.))
Once you have reached your account's limit, you'll have to manually remove a time-shift before adding another one.
This applies to even expired and broken time-shifts.
How do I remove a live from my time-line?
Beside the live that you want to remove, click on [削除], found on the far right of your screen.
A confirmation message will come up, press OK.
