Ahh, don't feel stupid! It's the card in the computer that actually enables you to have any sound at all. So if you record off that, then you get the best audio possible! And you don't have to use any peripheral recording devices like speakers and microphones that introduce noise and blah, so it's optimal.
That's nice! My school forced us to learn Soundforge, which was ugly and kept crashing because the school computers couldn't even handle that much and hmpfhhh =A=
